AEP, SemGreen sign MOU for delivery, use of C02 captured from Oklahoma plant

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) and SemGreen L.P., a subsidiary of SemGroup L.P., have signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the delivery and use of carbon dioxide captured by a planned commercial-scale carbon capture system on AEP subsidiary Public Service Company of Oklahoma’s Northeastern coal-fired power plant.

China Starts Construction On Its Largest Nuclear Power Plant

GUANGDONG, CHINA -- Chinese officials have started construction on the nation's largest nuclear power plant in Yangjiang, Guandong. The Yangjiang Nuclear Power Plant is part of China's strategy to increase the use of nuclear power and decrease its dependence on fossil fuels. China will spend an estimated $8 billion USD on the power plant.

 

Alstom Hydro wins new major contracts in Brazil and China

LEVALLOIS-PERRET, CEDEX, FRANCE -- Alstom Hydro, a joint venture between Alstom and Bouygues, has signed several contracts, worth approximately 350 million euro, to supply electro-and hydro-mechanical equipment for hydropower plants in Brazil and China. These contracts have been booked in the first half backlog of the 2007/08 fiscal year.

Nuclear power plant in Jiangsu to use Russian tech

Two 1,000-MW nuclear power reactors will be built under the second phase of the Tianwan nuclear power plant in Jiangsu Province, company officials have said. Russian company Atomstroyexport (ASE) - which supplied the two reactors for Phase I that started full operation in August - and a Chinese project official who did not want to be named, confirmed the project.

Hexcel to build prepreg facility in China
